Jetty as a Linux service

These are instructions for running Lenya on Jetty as a service on Linux. If you are running Lenya on Tomcat, go decipher the Tomcat instructions. (I may post them someday.)

Fix lenya.sh

FILE: lenya.sh
In the "servlet)" section, add an ampersand (&) at the end of the line, and add the echo line:

servlet)
$JAVA $JAVA_OPTIONS -cp $LOADER_LIB $ENDORSED $PARSER $JETTY_PORT_ARGS $JETTY_LIBRARIES $JETTY_WEBAPP $JETTY_HOME $JETTY $LOADER $JETTY_MAIN &
echo $! >$LENYA_HOME/lenya.pid
;;

Download init.d file

Download this file into your init.d directory.

Edit the file and configure JAVA_HOME, LENYA_HOME, lenyauser (unless your configuration matches mine.)
export JAVA_HOME=/opt/j2sdk1.4.2_08
export LENYA_HOME=/opt/apache-lenya-1.2.2
lenyauser=lenya

Someone reported changing one line for SuSE 9.2:
su - $lenyauser $lenyadir/lenya.sh servlet >$lenyadir/start.log 2>&1 &

Turn Lenya on.

/sbin/chkconfig --add lenya
